Quebec City Conference - Fault-Detection and Diagnostics!
Patrick O’Neill, Ph.D. NorthWrite’s COO presented at the
ASHRAE Summer Meeting in Quebec City. His presentation, entitled "Bringing FDD Down to Earth so Customers Can Actually Use It!"
addressed the gap between sophisticated diagnostics technology and the user groups that they often target—namely,
facility managers and service providers. O’Neill noted that many of the tools on the market are so difficult to
use that even the organization that developed it can have a hard time getting useful results.
"While progress has been made, we still have a long way to go as an industry in bringing effective FDD technology to market."

Communicator - New and Improved!
Do you have repetitive service requests? Are you pressed for time?
Thanks to your feedback, we have added a new feature to speed up the submission
of service requests!
Now, when you submit a new service request your entry is remembered. The next
time you submit a service request, you will automatically be taken to the details screen for
the new request. Your information is pre-filled for you. If the new service request requires
a minor update (e.g. the person you are sending the request to will be different), then you can
quickly make this alteration. Note: You’ll need to make sure you have your cookies enabled for
this to work!

Minneapolis Security Collaborative Adopts WorkSites!
Early this year, the Minneapolis Downtown Council, 1st Precinct Police, downtown business owners
and property managers, private security companies, and BOMA came together to form the Minneapolis Security Collaborative.
Its mission is to reduce crime and improve the overall safety of downtown Minneapolis. One of the cornerstones in the
strategy for accomplishing this focuses on greatly increasing the speed (and volume) of communications between all the key
stakeholders. The Collaborative has chosen NorthWrite’s WorkSite to be its technology platform. WorkSites will be used to
share documents, create and distribute incident reports, coordinate events, and provide tools for the Collaborative members
to communicate effectively with one another. |

Marines use Energy Expert!
The Marine Corps Base in Hawaii is one of the newest locations using
NorthWrite’s Energy Expert Tool. The software is being used to analyze a building
with higher than expected energy consumption. The Energy Expert trains itself
by monitoring the building’s energy consumption for a period of time. Once trained,
it informs the base Energy Manager when the building is consuming more (or less!)
energy than expected. This "instant" feedback enables the Marines to take
action immediately to identify and rectify problems within the facility.

New! DOE Project Win!
The DOE (Department of Energy) and NorthWrite, Inc., are working together to develop a
wireless monitoring system for commercial buildings. In the project, NorthWrite is teaming with
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Trane, Nike, and Texas A&M University. Co-funding received
from DOE will help to create low-cost, market-ready, wireless technology to aid in the monitoring
of these buildings. Currently, less than 10% of commercial buildings in the U.S. have centralized
automation systems. Without these systems necessary repairs go unnoticed for extended periods of time.
